Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has praised midfielder, Willian, insisting the former Chelsea man is getting better and better in a Gunners shirt.

The Brazilian enjoyed a fast start to life as an Arsenal player, contributing heavily to the opening day win at Fulham.

Since then, however, Willian has struggled to have as big an impact, although he did play well at Old Trafford last weekend as his experienced helped Arsenal to a big three points.

And Arteta, speaking to Goal, believes there is more to come from Willian while insisting he is one of the attacking players who can make a difference for this team in tight games.

“He’s a player who can make a difference, he’s got the ability to find that last action to open the door when everything is really tight. To score a goal, create an assist and the personality and understanding that he has on the pitch to manage the game we need in certain moments. At Old Trafford, I think he did that really well.”

“He’s getting better and better and we all know the quality that he has and he’s a great option to have on the pitch.”

Willian arrived at The Emirates in the summer on a free-transfer from Chelsea. He is on big wages at Arsenal but was brought in by Arteta to offer experience and a winning mentality to what is a predominantly young squad.

Underrated, that’s how Willian is viewed in a lot of people’s eyes who’ve watched a lot of Premier League football.

The Brazilian has won it all with Chelsea and his inclusion in the Arsenal squad should’t be underestimated. Much like David Luiz, he is a winner but also has the quality to back it up when on his game.

Willian will prove a fine signing for Arsenal and the big wages should prove money well spent in the end.
