Mikel Arteta has labelled George Lewis a player with huge potential as he was asked about the Arsenal youngster ahead of the Gunners’ Europa League tie with Molde on Thursday, in comments reported by Football London.
Lewis is awaiting the chance to make his first-team debut at the Emirates. He joined the club in the summer, linking up with their under-23 squad.

The 20-year-old has made four appearances in Premier League 2 so far. But perhaps it should not be a huge surprise if it is not too long before he is pushing himself onto the first-team radar.
Arteta was asked about the attacker ahead of their Europa League tie in Lewis’s home country of Norway on Thursday. And while he only offered a brief answer, his response certainly said a lot.

“He’s a player with huge potential,” he said, as reported by Football London. “You guys are developing a lot of talent in Norway and it’s a fact that you’re doing a lot of things right.”
TBR View: Arteta has opportunity to build something incredibly special
The form of Arsenal’s first-team has led to Arteta coming in for criticism in recent times. However, there looks to be a fantastic opportunity for the Spaniard to create an incredibly special side in the years to come.
Lewis is one of a number of incredibly exciting young players coming through in North London. Some are already forcing their way into the first-team squad.
But there looks to be several others – including Lewis – who may not be that far off. Arteta’s comment on the prospect certainly hints that Arsenal fans should not be surprised when his first-team debut does come along.
