Mikel Arteta lauds Sergio Aguero ahead of final Manchester City game
Manchester City striker and club legend, Sergio Aguero, has been lauded by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta ahead of his final game for City this weekend.
Aguero is due to leave Manchester this summer after over a decade over stunning form and goals. The Argentinian has hit an impressive 182 Premier League goals in just 274 appearances.
Many City fans will be hoping Guardiola gives Aguero the chance of a send off this weekend. City take on Everton at home, and with fans back, they could get the chance to say goodbye to their hero striker.
And his former coach and mentor, Mikel Arteta, told his Arsenal press conference how he regards Aguero as ‘one of the best talents’ he’s ever worked with.
“It was an absolute joy to work with him. His character, his personality, he’s a loveable man and then one of the best talents that I’ve seen. What he’s done in this league for so long, scoring the amount of goals that he’s done,” Arteta said.
“I think he was a player that contributed to change the perception of English football in different countries. What he’s done for Manchester City, I think he was a big contributor of changing the history, the mentality and the winning years that they had after that.”
Aguero’s final season has been blighted by injury but he is expected to overcome those problems and continue his career. Indeed, is has been reported that a deal with Barcelona has been agreed.
