Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, is hoping that yesterday’s FA Cup semi-final win against Manchester City can help convince Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to stay put this summer.

However, Aubameyang’s future is up in the air as things stand. No new contract has been agreed between the club and player, while big wage demands are also posing an issue for the club.

But Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports following the game, is hopeful that a ‘beautiful moment’ like yesterday can help convince Aubameyang to stay put.

“Good and beautiful moments, they are always better than the bad ones. As I told you, the way I look at him when I speak with him, he sounds pretty convinced.

“But obviously if he can see that success and the direction we are taking is the right one, I think he will be more positive about it, yes. Hopefully, it will help him to be more convinced we are going in the right direction.”

The 31-year-old has once again been the standout performer for Arsenal this season. It follows on from last season’s golden boot win for ‘Auba’, where he netted 22 times alongside Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.

There’s little doubting that Arteta has managed to get things going at Arsenal and this FA Cup semi win is his biggest result yet.

He’s right to be optimistic about Aubameyang, too. Success has been at a premium for Arsenal in recent years but everyone can see they’re on the right track now.

Aubameyang’s goals could make all the difference when it comes to winning and not next year. With a bit of luck, this might be the major turning point for all parties.
