Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has labelled Martin Odegaard as “phenomenal” when it comes to his behaviour, his attitude and his work rate.

Odegaard, who was spotted as a wonderkid in Norway at a young age, has had to do a lot of growing up fast and has played in several different countries already.

It’s no surprise to hear the 22-year-old is impressing the manager, as he’s shown some real quality moments on the pitch and looks a mature head on young shoulders.

The left-footed attacking midfielder joined the North London club in the mid-season window on a short-term loan deal from Real Madrid.

He’s yet to get off the goalscoring mark in his opening eight Arsenal appearances, but has threatened to burst into life and is an extra creative option within the squad.

Arteta has spoken extremely highly about Odegaard on Wednesday:

“I’m really happy with him. I think he’s settled really, really quickly into the team and with what we demand from the players. His behaviour, his attitude and his work rate has been phenomenal. He’s had better moments than others during games to give us the special qualities he has, but overall, I’m really happy with him,” Arteta said, as quoted by Football London.

It’s unclear on if Arsenal will attempt to bring Odegaard back to the Emirates Stadium in the future, but he’s an obvious talent that is starting to settle at his new club.

A six-month loan deal is difficult for players traveling abroad, which is why perhaps Odegaard is still adjusting to his first taste of the Premier League.

But he’s been ideal competition in the attacking positions and tries to link play in a number 10 role.
