Mikel Arteta has all-but confirmed another Arsenal signing after Martin Odegaard
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has effectively confirmed that the Gunners have landed Aaron Ramsdale.
Speculation over the past 24 hours or so suggests that Arsenal’s pursuit of the Sheffield United keeper has been successful.
As of Friday afternoon (3:45pm BST), the Gunners are yet to make an official announcement about Ramsdale.
At his pre-Chelsea press conference, however, Arteta has talked about the England goalkeeper’s imminent arrival.
“Aaron is a really, really talented young goalkeeper with already huge experience and an international for England,” he told the Arsenal media team.
“And he’s going to bring competition, which is what we want, to create healthy competition, quality competition in every position.
“We needed a goalkeeper there and he’s the ideal option.”
Arteta also spoke about what Ramsdale will bring to the Arsenal dressing room.
“I think they’re going to love his personality, his character, the quality that he has as a goalkeeper and what he’s going to offer,” he added.
“I think he’s a young goalkeeper, but he’s got huge, huge potential.”
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal will pay the Blades an initial £24million for Ramsdale.
A potential £6million extra in add-ons is also up for grabs for the Bramall Lane outfit.
