Arsenal will hope to make the most of their impressive domestic momentum to get the better of Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Gunners are back at the top of the Premier League table following their amazing eight-game winning run in English football.

Indeed, the only low point for Arsenal following their winter training trip to Dubai has been the 1-0 loss to Porto in their last-16 first leg.

Many of the Gunners’ players seemed overawed by the occasion of playing in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

That said, Arsenal were closing in on a 0-0 draw, only for a late stunner from Galeno to break Gunners hearts late on.

Jorginho must start for Arsenal in Champions League decider against Porto

Luckily for Arsenal, it’s a two-legged tie. Despite their amazing form in the league, the 1-0 deficit that has been hanging over the Gunners’ heads means they have it all to do and there’s no room for complacency.

In addition, Arteta can rectify one of the mistakes he made against Porto last time out, namely omitting Jorginho from the starting XI.

The £12million man is a must-have option from the off this time round. The way he recycles the ball, sprays superb passes around, maintains composure and radiates calmness will be crucial against a Porto side that will likely seek to defend and break on the counter.

In addition, Jorginho’s defensive stability enables Declan Rice to go forth and participate in attacks, which again will be important if Arsenal are to break their opponents down.

Let’s see what happens at 7pm on Tuesday night when the team news come out (or perhaps a little earlier, which tends to be the case for European games).

If the ‘unbelievable‘ Jorginho starts, then there’s a good chance Porto will struggle to cope with Arsenal this time round.
