The 18-year-old is one of the brightest prospects in the Premier League, with Arsenal and Arteta desperate to keep hold of their man. Amid interest from the likes of Liverpool and Dortmund, the Gunners will be even more determined to prove they can keep their best players.

And speaking to Goal ahead of the game with Southampton this week, Arteta confirmed he hopes to have some positive news regarding a new deal for Saka pretty soon.

“I am very positive that everything is going to be done with Bukayo very shortly.

“The communications between the club, agents and the family have been going on for months and are very fluent. The player and family know how much trust I have in him. I think he is just showing that every week and his consistency level is getting better and better.”

Saka has shown tremendous promise and versatility this season for the Gunners. He’s already into double figures in terms of assists, while he’s also added three goals to the cause.

The youngster has just a year left on his current deal. However, Arteta’s comments seem to suggest something is close, which, of course, would be fantastic news for the Gunners.

The Gunners have some fantastic young talent coming through but Saka might just be the pick of the bunch.

With the likes of Saka, Martinelli and others bursting onto the scene, the future looks pretty bright if the club can also add some quality signings to the squad as well.

Arteta, too, loves Saka. He previously admitted that he ‘loves’ working with the likes of Saka, admitting he finds it can be ‘very inspirational’ to help develop the young players a the club.

The Gunners boss, then, will be hoping for good news soon.
