Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has admitted that the club hasn’t started any sort of contract discussions with Alexandre Lacazette.
A report from the Sun has quoted Arteta as saying that no discussions have started with the French striker yet, who has just under two-years remaining on his current deal with the Gunners.

Lacazette scored the opening goal in the 2-1 win over West Ham at the weekend. However, his future remains unsure, with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Juventus just two of the clubs linked with a move for the forward.
But Arteta has said that there has been no developments as yet with the striker.
“At the moment we haven’t started any negotiations. We have a lot of things still to do in this market. He is a player I am really happy with. I think we showed him a lot of faith since I arrived here. But we cannot stop any speculation.
“We know that any player that is under two years contract is always going to be talked about.”

And that is the conundrum facing Arsenal here, in that they have a striker on their hands who is clearly a natural goalscorer.
The issue is Lacazette’s age. He’s approaching his 30s now and having just given Aubameyang a new deal, the Gunners may not want to run the risk of putting another ageing player on big money.
But, should he continue to hit the back of the net like he is, Mikel Arteta may be left with no option but to reward his striker.
