Mikael Lustig has posted on Instagram after Celtic were awarded a ninth consecutive Scottish Premiership title following a board meeting on Monday morning – and Kieran Tierney has responded.

The 12 Premiership clubs agreed last week that it is simply not feasible for the league to continue, especially when the lower leagues have also ended their current campaigns. Now, the Premiership has finished, and Celtic are champions.

It sees Celtic hold aloft their ninth consecutive trophy, and their 51st Scottish Premiership trophy overall – three behind Rangers. However, The Hoops are now just one away from reaching the all-time record of 10 in a row.

Lustig, who left Celtic last summer to join Belgian side KAA Gent, posted on Instagram immediately after hearing the news that his old side had been made champions – cheekily editing an old photo that sees him hold up nine to the Celtic supporters.

Lustig was with Celtic for the previous eight Scottish Premiership titles but made the decision last summer to leave Parkhead rather than staying on with the Scottish champions in their pursuit fo 10 in a row. His contract had come to an end.

Like Lustig, Tierney also departed last summer to join Arsenal in a big-money move. But the left-back remains a key supporter of his boyhood club like Lustig, and he responded to Lustig’s Instagram.
