‘Might just be our Virgil’: Some Spurs fans react as club reportedly submits offer for centre-back

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter discussing increasing speculation linking Spurs with Nikola Milenkovic.

Tottenham are one of the clubs to have made an offer to the Fiorentina defender’s agent ahead of the January transfer window, according to a report from La Nazione.

The outlet claims that AC Milan are currently showing the most serious interest, but Spurs and Manchester United are also believed to have made offers.

It is believed that Fiorentina’s demands have not dropped from around €25million (£23million), who has been an ever-present for Cesare Prandelli’s men this year.

Milenkovic’s contract at the Serie A club expires at the end of next season and a potential renewal hasn’t been ruled out, but the 23-year-old certainly seems to have plenty of admirers.

While Tottenham aren’t necessarily in desperate need of a new centre-back, Davinson Sanchez has been frozen out of Mourinho’s plans, with no Premier League appearances since October.

Were Spurs to sell the Colombia international, this could hypothetically finance a move for Milenkovic, who some – including former Serbia coach Mladen Krstajic – have labelled the “new Nemanja Vidic”.
