Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on the signing of free agent Joe Hart with the player said to be having a medical on Monday – and former Spurs striker Mido has reacted on Twitter.
Hart, 33, is a free agent after the goalkeeper’s contract at Burnley expired at the end of last season. The 75-time England international has been linked with a move to Celtic, but the Scottish side signed Vasilis Barkas instead.
BBC Sport claim Hart is due to have a medical to join Tottenham on a free transfer, with Spurs keen to bring homegrown players to the club. Michel Vorm left Spurs this summer, and Hart is expected to be his replacement.
It remains to be seen if the former Manchester City, West Ham United and Torino goalkeeper will be third or second choice behind Hugo Lloris. A somewhat surprising move, Mido reacted – seemingly stunned.

TBR’s view – A good signing? Or an expensive waste of wages?
The Times claim Hart was being paid a whopping £50,000 a week at Burnley – and that while Spurs are closing in on a move for the goalkeeper, they are unwilling to pay as much as he was receiving with Sean Dyche’s side.
So, for wages less than his previous contract, Spurs would be getting a goalkeeper with plenty of trophies in his cabinet, enormous experience at club and international level – and excellent cover for Lloris.
Surely, it cannot be viewed as anything other than a good signing for Jose Mourinho’s side?
