Mido has enormous criticism of Tottenham star Romero
Mido has heavily criticised Tottenham defender Cristian Romero on Twitter, after Spurs suffered a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.
Romero, 23, joined Tottenham in the summer for a fee of £50million – having won last season’s Serie A defender of the year title.
He also won the Copa America with Argentina in the summer. But he has endured an indifferent start to life at Tottenham, since his big-money move.
A knee niggle from the summer has remained, jetting off to represent his country and being forced to isolate – Romero had just began to find his feet.
A man-of-the-match display against Burnley saw Romero impress. But against Manchester United, he was obliterated by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United eased to a 3-0 win, with Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani both scoring. Ex-Spurs striker Mido was brutal in his verdict.
Mido on Romero: Is Tottenham man proving value for money?
Romero is probably the last man Mido should be taking aim, at. While he has endured two tricky league games of late, he has been improving.
That is, while Tottenham teammates have been struggling around him. The midfield has been far below what Spurs fans are used to.
Harry Kane looks a shadow of the player that sparkled last season. Son Heung-min is not at his best, perhaps struggling with Kane out of form.
Romero is probably a bright light of the side and at 23, he is only going to get better. But Mido has every right to be frustrated with Spurs.
