Leeds United have been linked with a move for Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala who is in the final months of his contract at The Riverside – but many Boro fans have urged their side to keep the Spanish centre-back.
The Northern Echo have claimed that Leeds are interested in landing 29-year-old ace Ayala in the January transfer window, with the winter window representing the last chance Boro have to bring in some cash for the ex-Liverpool academy man.
The report also claims that former Leeds defender and Boro manager Jonathan Woodgate is desperate to keep Ayala. It is believed Boro will look to offer Ayala fresh terms in a bid to keep the defender on Teesside.

Leeds could do with another centre-back, with Liam Cooper and Ben White considered the club’s only first-team centre-backs. Gaetano Berardi, Luke Ayling and Kalvin Phillips have filled in, while youngster Pascal Struijk can also play there.
Ayala has enormous experience in the Championship, clocking up 206 appearances in England’s second tier and gaining promotion with Middlesbrough alongside Adam Forshaw. Victor Orta also worked at Boro before joining Leeds.
Middlesbrough fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Ayala is a target for Leeds ahead of the January window, and the majority of Boro supporters are desperate for their side to keep Ayala.
