Mauricio Pochettino is planning a break for his Tottenham Hotspur players next month, according to Football.London.
Spurs face the prospect of three weeks without a match because they were due to play Crystal Palace on March 17, but the Eagles made it through in the FA Cup at the expense of Pochettino’s side.
And that has reportedly given Pochettino the opportunity to organise a trip which will allow his men to get themselves in the best possible shape for the business end of the season.
Pochettino said: “We’re trying to find some place to go. We’ll see. It’s in our mind it’s to try to spend time together with the team, to be in a different place because it’s going to be a long period without competition.”
Fatigue in the wake of a World Cup into which many of Tottenham’s players went deep has been a problem all season for a squad which was not boosted by reinforcements in either of the last two transfer windows.
It has cost them in certain matches but also increased the risk of injury, which has robbed Pochettino of key players at various points across the season.
And while the trip away won’t be for relaxation, it can also provide an opportunity for some tired players to recharge their batteries and finally get them back to peak condition for the most crucial period of the season.
