Newcastle United legend Micky Quinn has hammered Toon duo Miguel Almiron and Joelinton after Steve Bruce’s side were easily beaten 2-0 at Villa Park thanks to two quick-fire goals from Conor Hourihane and Anwar El Ghazi.
Ireland international Hourihane scored from a free-kick, curling the ball around the wall and leaving Martin Dubravka completely stranded. The goalkeeper did not move, after Grealish’s excellent run had earned the chance.
Grealish then sent another message to Gareth Southgate as another mazy run saw Federico Fernandez take the playmaker out on the edge of the box. Hourihane turned provider as El Ghazi stole in to fire into the roof of the net.
Newcastle were non-existent in the first half and played incredibly deep against a side they should be looking to beat. A brief resurgence occurred in the second half but Villa held on, and Quinn has slammed the Newcastle attacking duo.
After wins against West Ham and Bournemouth it was normal service resumed last night,2 set pieces conceded for the Villa goals,Almiron looks shot to bits and Rafa looks spot on about Joelinton not being ready for PL,just 1 goal between the 2 of them and 61million paid 🤷♂️

TBR’s view – Almiron deserves faith, but Joelinton needs time out
Just because Almiron has not yet scored or created a goal – though it is poor stat – does not mean he has bee a bad player for Newcastle during his time at the club. Indeed, he looks more and more dangerous as time goes by.
It is widely believed, though, that Benitez felt it was too early for Joelinton in the Premier League and it is proving true. The £40million man has netted on just one occasion, scoring the winning against Tottenham in a 1-0 win.
Almiron should continue to start, but Joelinton needs time out of the firing line.
