Micky Hazard hailed Tottenham after they secured a vital 2-1 home victory against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Spurs hard to do it their hard way in their new stadium, but held on for three points that will lift the spirits after a difficult couple of weeks.

Tanguy Ndombele put the hosts in front with his powerful drive and it meant Mauricio Pochettino’s side were off to an ideal start.

But Serge Aurier was sent off for a second yellow card after only 31 minutes and it left the North London club with their backs against the wall.

Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris then gifted Danny Ings an equaliser, before Harry Kane restored the lead just before half-time.

Pochettino’s team were able to hold onto three points in the second-half with a brilliant display with 10 men and they now turn their attention to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Ex-Spurs player Hazard believes that Lloris and Kane were influential in his former team securing the win on Saturday.

Lloris may have made an epic blunder for the Southampton goal, but was on hand with some top saves in the second period to redeem himself.

“Great result great character after being down to 10 men for 2 thirds of the game. Lloris after a massive mistake played a vital part in getting us the points and Harry [Kane] what can you say but what a goalscorer he is. Delighted with three points. Now for Bayern,” Hazard wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Lloris faced immense pressure after his massive mistake in the first-half against Southampton and he’s been prone to the odd error in his career.

But ultimately the Frenchman is a brilliant shot-stopper and he turned up to save his team in the second-half.

Meanwhile, centre-forward Kane once again popped up with a goal for his team and it turned out to be the winner.

The England captain controlled the ball in the box after a breakaway move by Spurs and fired in a low finish to the bottom corner.
