Everton have been linked with Michy Batshuayi for a while now. Back in January, various outlets including The Mirror reported Everton’s interest in Batshuayi.
And The Express claims Everton are among the teams in the hunt for the £40m-rated Chelsea striker this summer.
Batshuayi had a dismal start to the season, struggling in Spain with Valencia. But he has since showed Everton exactly why they should be interested.
The Belgium international has spent the second half of the season on loan at Crystal Palace, where he has become a hit with the fans.
His brace against Bournemouth on the final day of the season took his total tally to six goals in 13 games for the Eagles. This included five goals in 11 Premier League games.
Everton need a new centre-forward this summer. Cenk Tosun has not managed to fill the role and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s strike rate needs improving.
With a striker like Batshuayi through the middle, Everton would be scoring plenty of goals. He is the ideal number 9 that Marco Silva needs.
£40m is a steep price to pay. But the 25-year-old was starting to justify that price tag towards the end of his Crystal Palace loan stint.
With service from Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne, Seamus Coleman, Richarlison and others at Everton, Batshuayi would surely thrive.
And his loan spell at Crystal Palace could be enough to earn him a move to Goodison Park this summer.
