There appears to have been a changing in the guard in the goalkeeping slots at Tottenham Hotspur. Where once Michel Vorm was the regular back-up to club captain Hugo Lloris, it appears that role has now passed to Argentine stopper Paulo Gazzaniga.

He has impressed whenever given a chance by Mauricio Pochettino and has now usurped the Dutchman to be second choice.

Surely, this is now the end of Vorm’s Tottenham career?

Signed in July 2014 for a reported £5 million he has played just 46 times for Spurs in five seasons since his arrival and he has been an able deputy throughout his Spurs career.

However, with it now clear he has become the third-choice at Tottenham, the clock is ticking. The 35-year-old is out of contract in the summer and could easily still offer something as a regular first-team goalkeeper in the Premier League or Championship.

Pochettino signed Vorm in 2014 to challenge and back up Lloris as his trusted back-up. However, Gazzaniga is now proving to have the trust of Poch going forward.

Vorm must now start considering his future to ensure he finds his right next home. Tottenham, will need to consider whether a third first-team goalkeeping option is necessary.
