West Ham United star Michail Antonio has claimed that Declan Rice has feet like Ronaldinho.

Rice is undoubtedly the Hammers’ best player. He is up there with the most talented midfielders in the country, but tricks and flicks on the ball isn’t the reason why he’s so highly rated in the Premier League.

However, that’s what has caught Antonio’s eye, and the Jamaican named Rice as the player who has surprised him the most among everyone he has played with.

In the Footballer’s Football Podcast alongside Callum Wilson, when asked about the player who has surprised him the most, Antonio said: “Declan Rice. His feet are like Ronaldinho mate! He flip-flaps, the tricks that he has in training are insane.

“Then you can see it in the games where he has little flicks and tip-tappy things, how he drives with the ball from midfield.

“When he first came in to train with the first-team, he was a centre half, and he’d still do that stuff just for banter on the training ground, he never did it in actual training but he did certain things where you’d look at him and be like ‘bloody hell, did you see what he’s just done’.

If you had asked us to compare Rice to any footballer in the history of the game, Ronaldinho would probably be the last player we’d think of. Antonio’s comparison is definitely surprising, but we’re not going to argue that he’s wrong.

Rice really is a fantastic player. He is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League, and he’s one of the biggest reasons why West Ham have done so well over the last few years.

The good news for Irons fans is that it seems like Rice is going to stay at the London Stadium. It’s extremely unlikely that he will leave in this window, but things could be really different this time next year.

West Ham take on Nottingham Forest this weekend, and if Rice has a good game, David Moyes’ side will most likely come away with all three points.
