Michael Owen says there’s one thing Spurs currently have that ‘really is sensational’

Tottenham Hotspur have been praised by Premier League legend Michael Owen for having “a lot of leaders” and plenty of “individual talent” in their ranks.

Spurs suffered a wobble earlier this year but are now looking back to their best, scoring plenty of goals and looking much more solid defensively.

Jose Mourinho’s charges have scored 18 goals in their last six games in all competitions, including four instances of netting four goals in one match.

In addition, Spurs have conceded just once in their last four games, which has helped them to within five points of the top four and into the last 16 of the Europa League.

“They’ve got a lot of leaders in their team,” Owen said on Matchday Live on Optus Sport.

“At one point this season we were talking like ‘could they go on and win it?’ they were right at the top and people were questioning whether they could go on.

“They dropped off poorly and went through a real average patch, but they look like they are back to something like their best now.

“When you’ve got individual talent like they have – there are not many squads in the Premier League who have what they’ve got – it really is sensational. Their bench is really strong.”

Credit to Mourinho not only for getting his team right back on track but also for getting Gareth Bale and Dele Alli firing on all cylinders once again, the manager once again silencing his critics.

Spurs have some huge games coming up now – the EL last-16 tie against Dinamo Zagreb and the North London derby – and Mourinho’s side has hit form at just the right time.
