‘Brilliant’: Michael Owen spotted what Mo Salah kept doing perfectly over and over against Tottenham

Liverpool picked up a hugely important win at Tottenham today and Mo Salah was the man of the moment once again for the Reds.

Salah’s two goals in the first half ensured it was three points for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The Reds star capitalised on a mistake from Eric Dier for one goal, but his finish was that of the Salah of old.

Watching on today from a Liverpool perspective was former striker, Michael Owen. Of course, Owen knows a thing or two about being a top forward.

And speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen said that Salah has a first touch that makes him one of the greats.

“Your first touch is everything and Salah’s was brilliant today. It’s also the choice you make and he has the ability to make the right one in a split-second. That’s what marks the great ones out,” Owen said on PL Productions.

Salah is well known for being balanced and classy in possession of the ball. His mazy runs often require him to have controlled a longer ball from Van Dijk or Henderson, for example. And more often than not, his touch is perfect.

Riyad Mahrez does something similar at Manchester City. The first touch he and Salah show often opens up chances and assists that other players wouldn’t get.

For Salah, he is simply superb with it. He receives the ball so well and more often than not, he ends up being able to create something out of nothing because of it.

Liverpool need a fully firing Mo Salah. Today they got that, and it’s no surprise they got three points off the back of it.

At the end of the day, Mo Salah is a world-class operator and Liverpool fans know that more than anyone.
