Michael Owen has claimed that Liverpool having Mo Salah not on the scoresheet today actually helped them score nine goals against Bournemouth.
The Reds were in rampant form at Anfield to completely banish any notion of the start of the season being a write off already. The likes of Bobby Firmino and Luis Diaz were in fine fettle, while the backline also chipped in with their share of help up front too.

However, there were no goals or assists for Mo Salah as the Egyptian missed his chances. But according to Michael Owen, having Salah not score actually helped the Reds continue on the goal trail.
“Going a couple of goals ahead in the first minutes was the perfect start. And then when you’ve got certain players – there’s certain teams when they score a few you think they’ll ease off now – but when you’ve got people like Mo Salah that still hadn’t got on the scoresheet and didn’t all game, you think ‘you know what, they’re going to keep going here’, ‘cos they’re all hungry for goals, and you just knew it was going to be a big score,” Owen said on PL Productions.
TBR’s View: Salah Will Be Fuming Despite Liverpool Win
All the best strikers want to score goals and Mo Salah will be furious he’s not got himself on the sheet today with nine goals scored.
Of course, he did contribute to the win and was a menace to the Cherries all day long. But his miss from a yard out and then a few other efforts going awry summed up a pretty poor individual day in front of goal for Salah.
He will be back, as we know. But on this particular evening, Salah will be upset to have not notched at least once.
