A busy end to the January transfer window is expected at Newcastle United as there are several areas that need improving.
Rafa Benitez has been left frustrated by yet another window where a lack of investment has left him scrapping around for loans and bargains.
According to Calcio Mercato, Newcastle could be lining up a bargain swoop for Slavia Prague defender Michael Ngadeu-Ngaduji.
Ngadeu has a contract until summer 2020 but has a release clause of just €4.5m (roughly £3.9m).
The 28-year-old plays as a central defender and has impressed for the Czech side in the domestic competitions and in Europe.
In six Europa League matches this season, the Cameroon international has weighed in with 14 tackles, 16 interceptions, 30 clearances and 26 successful aerial duels, according to Who Scored.

It is clear that Ngadeu is a solid centre-back who could thrive if he adjusts to life in the Premier League.
But this is not Newcastle’s priority as the transfer window comes to a close. Benitez does not need another centre-half in his ranks.
Currently in that department, Newcastle have Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernandez, Ciaran Clark, Fabian Schar and Florian Lejeune.
Newcastle are stacked in central defence and do not need a new face competing with these five players.
Instead, Benitez should focus on bringing in a new left-back, creative midfielder and a new striker to ease their relegation worries.
