Michael Keane has claimed that new Everton signing James Rodriguez has looked impressive in training and he is confident there is a lot more to come from him.
The Toffees have done brilliant business to bring central midfielder Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure to Merseyside, but the real marquee additions so far in this summer window has been the capture of Rodriguez.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side signed left-footer Rodriguez from Real Madrid on a permanent basis and he’s moved to Goodison Park with real pedigree.
The attacking midfielder has 22 goals in 76 international caps for Colombia, while his club career has seen him impress at the likes of Madrid, Porto and Bayern Munich.
Everton centre-back Keane has given his verdict on the highly-rated 29-year-old, who is already making a big impression at the club.
“I think there’s a lot more to come from him. Once he gets fitter he can only get better and better, so we’re lucky to have him,” Keane told talkSPORT.
“I’ve seen a few glimpses in training, nutmegging one or two lads and bending the ball in the top corner.
“His first touch is spot on, you know you can fizz the ball into him and he’ll stop it dead with his foot. He’s got that experience and played in huge games for big clubs, so that will be a massive help to us.”
Rodriguez looks a stellar signing on paper and fans are all excited by him after an eye-catching debut in the club’s opening fixture of the Premier League season, which finished with a 1-0 win away to Tottenham.
The attacking midfielder operated from a wide right position and had a licence to roam the pitch, while every time he got possession he looked threatening and a real creative force.
Everton certainly look a far more balanced side following the arrival of three quality signings and the ambition has to be looking up the table towards the European positions.
