Michael Dawson has told Soccer Saturday (broadcast on Sky Sports; 6/8; 5:20) that Dejan Kulusevski was out of this world as Tottenham beat Southampton in their Premier League opener on Saturday.

Spurs top the table after the opening couple of days of the campaign. Antonio Conte’s men came from behind to thrash the Saints.

Remarkably, Tottenham scored four without either Harry Kane or Son Heung-min finding the back of the net. Instead, it was Kulusevski who stepped up in the 4-1 win.

The Swede set up the equaliser for Ryan Sessegnon with a brilliant cross. And he rounded off the win with a superb finish for Tottenham’s fourth goal.

It was a stunning performance from the January signing. And it will whet the appetite of Spurs fans for what is to come over the coming months from the 22-year-old.

Certainly, Dawson was in absolutely no doubt who the star of the show was as Tottenham got off to a flyer.

“Kulusevski was out of this world. He caused all kinds of problems. Kulusevski, I said he was the best player on the pitch,” he told Soccer Saturday.

“I’ve loved him since he’s come in. You talk about him playing on the right-hand side, he comes in, he goes inside out. The ball for Sessegnon’s goal to get them back in the game was sensational.”

Kulusevski out of this world in Tottenham win

Kulusevski has continued his remarkable record since moving to Tottenham right at the end of the winter window. He has now featured in 19 Premier League games since his arrival. And in that time, he has contributed six goals and nine assists.

What is terrifying for Tottenham’s rivals is that focusing on Kulusevski only gives Kane and Son more freedom. And Richarlison is still waiting in the wings.

Spurs have certainly taken a step forward in recent months. And the signing of Kulusevski is one of the key reasons for that progress.
