Michael Dawson says Championship needs to continue, but explains why Leeds may suffer
Nottingham Forest captain Michael Dawson has told Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast Show on Thursday morning that he believes the Championship campaign must be completed – but has explained how Leeds and West Brom may suffer because of that.
With nine games to play in the 2019-20 campaign, the Covid-19 epidemic has put a halt to proceedings with Leeds sitting pretty at the top of the table – having won five consecutive league games, without conceding a goal.
West Brom sit just a point behind Leeds in second, while a six-point gap between the Baggies and Fulham sees the top two looking likely to go on and gain automatic promotion. But with nine games to play, anything can happen.
Asked whether the season should be voided, or should continue when possible, Forest skipper Dawson is adamant that the Championship campaign must remain – claiming that clubs could still catch Leeds and West Brom.
