Michael Dawson has told Sky Sports (broadcast on 4/4; 19:20) that Harry Kane is incredible, and insisted that the Tottenham Hotspur star’s work-rate means that he deserves every single plaudit coming his way.
Even by Kane’s standards, his record this season is outrageous. The 27-year-old has scored 19 goals and has contributed 13 assists for Jose Mourinho’s men.

His latest two goals came in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle. As Dawson goes on to note, he was fortunate with the first before producing a superbly emphatic finish for his second.
Those goals leave him only behind Robert Lewandowski for goal involvements in Europe’s top five leagues this year. He is one clear of Lionel Messi, who has scored or assisted 31 strikes this season.

And Dawson outlined just how much respect he has for his former teammate after learning of that statistic in the wake of the draw.
“He’s sensational,” he told Sky Sports. “Absolutely love that guy. He works, the desire. We talk about in possession, out of possession, in your own box. He just scores goals.
“He was very fortunate with the first one today. But his second one was different level. He’s a finisher and that doesn’t just happen. He practices, repetition, day-in, day-out, and he’s done it from a young age.
“And he gets his rewards. And you look at those stats: incredible.”
TBR View: Kane closing in on new personal best
Kane is just four goals off his best ever tally for goals and assists combined. So with eight games remaining, there looks to be every chance that he will smash that record this season.
It is a reason for optimism for Tottenham as they look to push themselves back into the top four. They are now only two points behind Chelsea.
Of course, they must improve at the back if they hope to see off all of their rivals for that spot. But there is no question that they have the quality going forward to pull away from the pack.
