Michael Dawson has claimed that reported Tottenham target Gareth Bale would improve the current side if he completes a move back to the Premier League.
The 31-year-old attacker is being heavily linked with an exit from Spanish giants Real Madrid and is being tipped with a return to Spurs, which are the club he left in 2013.
According to BBC Sport, Jose Mourinho’s side are on the verge of signing the left-footed Welshman this summer.
The Wales international has had a stellar career at the Bernabeu that has seen him win four Champions League trophies with Madrid, but he’s been frozen out of their team and could now be returning to English football.
Former Spurs defender Dawson, who played alongside Bale when the pair were both at the North London club, is confident that his ex-teammate would improve the current side if he joined.
“I count myself lucky to have played with so many world-class player, but Gaz (Bale) probably the best,” Dawson said, as quoted by Football Daily.
“Him as a player what he can bring, what he can do individually, as well as collectively is just incredible, and he’s going to improve Spurs.”
It’s unclear on how Mourinho would look to fit Bale into his side if a deal is wrapped up this summer, but it would be one of the biggest stories of the window and surely be a big boost to the Spurs squad.
He’s a versatile attacker that can provide cover for Harry Kane through the middle or play in his more common wide position, but may also be used in a creative number 10 role.
Bale will definitely improve the options in the final third for Spurs and is the kind of marquee addition that could give them a real lift to try be successful this season.
