Michael Chopra has posted an exciting message on Twitter amid growing pressure on the Premier League to release a statement and break their silence on the withdrawn, Saudi-backed bid to buy Newcastle United.
The consortium consisting of Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners, the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund and the Reuben Brothers decided to withdraw their £300million offer last week – despite Mike Ashley accepting.
Staveley has since spoken in the public domain, urging supporters to get vocal and appealing for scrutiny into the Premier League’s handling of the situation. Staveley claimed that the Premier League were happy to sit on the offer.
However, since then withdrawn offer, former players including Rob Lee, Robbie Elliot and Tino Asprilla have called on supporters to sign a petition to investigate the Premier League’s process of approving takeovers.
The petition has been created as supporters are of the opinion that the Premier League delayed the takeover and eventually convinced the consortium to withdraw an offer. The Premier League are yet to comment.
But the petition now has a whopping 56,000 signatures and counting and Chopra – who has been vocal of his views on both Steve Bruce and Ashley – posted an exciting Tweet in regards to the takeover.
