Michael Brown reacts to Stuart Dallas performance in Leeds win

Michael Brown has praised Stuart Dallas as an important player in the Leeds United side, but was left amazed with a mistake in front of goal he had against Reading.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side moved to the top of the Championship table on Tuesday night by winning 1-0 away at Reading, which was a fourth consecutive league victory.

Jack Harrison popped up with an 87th minute header to secure three points and the team recorded yet another clean sheet.

The Yorkshire giants started to apply pressure on the Reading goal in the second-half and it wasn’t until late on they found the breakthrough.

Ex-Leeds midfielder Brown criticised Dallas for one chance he had, as he found himself unmarked at the back-post and fired his effort into the side netting.

The 28-year-old failed to capitalise on his goalscoring opportunity, but fortunately teammate Harrison came up with the goods.

“Surely you learn from a young age hit it across the goalkeeper and when you see the ball in real time you’ll realise how he’s got to score. I don’t know how he doesn’t. Everybody says go across the goalkeeper into the far angle, but he doesn’t he goes near post and hits the netting,” Brown told Sky Sports Main Event channel (10:05pm, 26 November).

“To get three [goalscoring] opportunities, he plays  right-back he plays on the left side so he’s a great player for them to have.”

TBR’s View:

Dallas may have done better with his attempted volley at the back=post, but he also hit the crossbar and had a third effort on goal in the second-half.

The 28-year-old is fortunately not in the team to score goals and he shouldn’t be judged too harshly on that.

He’s an ever-present in Bielsa’s XI due to his tireless work-rate and his flexibility to play pretty much anywhere on the park.

The Northern Ireland international popped up in so many different positions against Reading and must be a nightmare for opposition.

Dallas usually operates from a right-back role, but he pushed forward commonly against Reading and has been one of the top performers at Elland Road all season.
