Former Leeds United midfielder Michael Brown was full of praise for the performance of Kalvin Phillips in the 1-1 draw with Brentford on Tuesday night.
Speaking as a pundit on Quest, Brown was waxing lyrical over Phillips’ display on his return to the team after suspension.
He said: “I can’t say enough good things about him. Short passes, long passes, he can fit in in different areas of the pitch. What he’s really good at is limiting opportunities, making it hard.
“(Brentford), they’re limited. Watkins, no shots. Mbeumo, no shots. Benrahma, one shot, the goal. Full credit defensively.”

TBR’s View – Phillips helped Leeds dominate
After Saturday’s performance in defeat against Nottingham Forest, Leeds needed a response on Tuesday. They needed to defend better.
Brown is right to highlight Phillips as a major part of that as Leeds dominated from start to finish away from home against a genuine promotion contender.
That will be even sweeter as Brentford hammered a huge nail into the coffin of their automatic promotion hopes last season, on Easter Monday.
Phillips’ return was absolutely pivotal, allowing Ben White to return to centre half where he looks more comfortable as well as anchoring a midfield which helped keep Brentford’s front three very quiet indeed.
That should give the club a shot in the arm and they were in need of that given their run of form since the New Year. It’s about carrying it on now.
