Michael Brown praised Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen after he scored in the Champions League group stage win over Red Star Belgrade.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side took a big step to qualification in their European group by thumping Serbian outfit Red Star 4-0 away from home.
Giovani Lo Celso opened the scoring in the first-half with his first Spurs goal, while Heung-Min Son netted a quick-fire double around the hour mark to wrap up three points.
Eriksen then scored a late fourth goal to add gloss to the scoreline and it was just his second goal of the season.
The attacking midfielder has had a tough individual campaign where his standards have slipped, but he came off the bench to make an impact against Red Star with his goal.
Ex-Spurs midfielder Brown feels that Eriksen’s goal will be a huge boost for him moving forward and that he needed a lift.
“I fancied Eriksen to get on the scoresheet tonight and it was a good first touch. I think a goal for Spurs is just what he needed,” Brown told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

TBR’s View:
With Eriksen’s contract expiring at the end of the season, there is a lot of talk about his future and it looks like he could be playing elsewhere sooner rather than later.
But the biggest frustration for Spurs fans is that the Denmark international has not been playing well for the North London club while he is still on the books.
He has proven in the past he can be a creative force when on form and also a goal threat.
His strike against Red Star came after some nice control in the penalty area and there is no doubting his ability when he wants to perform.
