Michael Beale delivers 10-word verdict on Rangers victory on Thursday night

Glasgow Rangers have reached the knockout stages of the Europa League with victory at Ibrox on Thursday night.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, in his first match as Rangers manager, masterminded a 2-0 win over Sparta Prague in Glasgow.

Gers striker Alfredo Morelos bagged a brace for the Light Blues, the Colombian ace netting a goal in each half.

And Michael Beale, who recently left Rangers to link up with Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa, has congratulated the Ibrox side for their efforts.

Here is what he wrote on Twitter:

Rangers’ victory, along with Brondby’s defeat by Lyon, means the Light Blues are guaranteed to finish in second place in Group A.

This is due to the Ibrox side’s superior head-to-head record against Sparta.

Rangers have one Europa League knockout stage game left, against Lyon on 9 December, but both sides are already through.

Van Bronckhorst’s charges will face one of eight teams dropping out of the Champions League in February for a place in the last 16 of the Europa League.
