Everton icon Michael Ball is fuming on Twitter after The FA confirmed that Toffees midfielder Andre Gomes would be handed a three-match ban for his actions against Fulham on Saturday.
With Everton set to suffer a shock 2-0 defeat to the west Londoners, tensions were running high. A frustrated Everton side had just taken two enormous steps forward after wins against Chelsea and Arsenal.
But with Fulham already relegated, the lack of pressure on Scott Parker’s side inevitably helped. It saw Fulham earn a 2-0 win. In the 95th minute, the frustration caught up with Gomes.
Video replays showed the Portuguese midfielder stamping on Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, during an off-the-ball incident. The official FA Spokesperson confirmed the ban on Twitter, to which Ball reacted angrily.
[2/2] This follows an incident in the 95th minute of the Premier League fixture against Fulham on Saturday [13/04/2019] that was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
The midfielder has until 18:00 on Tuesday [16/04/2019] to respond to the charge.

Gomes has been charged by the @FA – 🙄
It’s just Everton once again. 😡😡

It is difficult to suggest anything other than Gomes being handed the ban. It was reckless, thoughtless moment of utter frustration from the midfielder – and his ban is more than deserved.
The ban comes at a difficult time. With the race for seventh place in full swing, Leicester City and Wolves sit on 47 points while Everton and Watford are on 46. Seventh is likely to provide European football next season.
Gomes will miss the matches against home games against Manchester United and Burnley, as well as a tricky trip to Crystal Palace. He will be available for the last game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur.
The midfielder has shone for Everton, on loan from Barcelona. Spanish outlet Onda Cero claim he has a £21.7million permanent clause in his Everton loan – but it remains to be seen if that will be activated.
