Everton bounced back from their recent back-to-back defeats in the Premier League by securing safe passage to the next round of the EFL Cup last night. The Toffees defeated Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 thanks to a brace from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
It was a well-earned result for Everton after a tough few days for manager Marco Silva.
It was, however, far from the best performance you can expect from this current Everton squad.

The two goals came early and Everton were deserving of the win, however, there are still question marks over the club’s overall play.
Indeed, that is a theory shared by former Everton defender Michael Ball. The one-time England international, who came through the youth ranks at Finch Farm, took to Twitter after the win.
He suggested that Everton’s ‘lack of belief’ was again on show but he was grateful that Everton were in the next round. The same cannot be said for Tottenham Hotspur, as Ball pointed out, who were knocked out by League Two side Colchester United.
Everton fans will be pleased that the club have advanced to this stage in the competition. In recent times, there has been a feeling that Everton are not giving the cup competitions enough effort and fans are desperate to see the club string a decent cup run together again.
Hopefully, Everton can continue their good results in the competition going forward and potentially give the fans something to be excited about this season.
