Former Everton defender Michael Ball feels his old club should consider giving Anthony Gordon his head in the first team in the injury-enforced absence of Bernard.
As per the Liverpool Echo, Ball feels Gordon could be capable of replacing the Brazilian, who is sidelined with a knee injury picked up against Brighton.
He said: “I’ve always been a big fan of bringing the youth in, so Anthony Gordon could be a good option in the absence of Bernard. When that chance comes for him, I’m sure he’ll grab it.
“As a youth player, if you’re in and around first team training a lot, you’ll be assessing your ability against those players and picking up the pros and cons of what the senior players do. You’re just waiting for that opportunity. It comes to a point where you think ‘Have I got the ability to be better than him?'”

TBR’s View – Making the most of their promising young players could breathe more life into Everton
Everton have an impressive crop of young players and a strong history of integrating kids into their first team so perhaps that’s one way in which they could re-establish a connection with the fans and get some more life back into the side.
Gordon is highly-rated but needs a chance to come his way during an era where Everton are spending big on attacking options and Bernard’s injury may provide the perfect springboard.
