Michael Appleton has admitted that Lincoln City have suffered a massive blow, with Arsenal loanee Tyreece John-Jules likely to miss the rest of the season due to injury, in comments reported by Football London.

The Gunners youngster has made seven appearances for the League One side since arriving from the Emirates during the January transfer window. He has scored one goal.

Unfortunately, it appears that the 19-year-old will not get the chance to add to that tally before the campaign concludes.

Appleton suggested that John-Jules had suffered a foot injury that is likely to rule him for the remaining months of the season, before expressing how disappointed he is to lose the forward.

“Last night we found out that Tyreece has a slight fracture in the tarsal bone, so it looks very unlikely that he’ll feature again this season,” he said, as reported by Football London.

“It’s a massive blow. It’s a big blow for us, for the player, for the squad, for everybody but I think first and foremost I hope he gets himself sorted as quick as he possibly can.”

“I think he’s got a big future. A lot of people will look it and see him getting into positions where he’s had opportunities and he’s not taken them, but the biggest thing which has impressed me is his work rate, his quality of runs and how much he’s prepared to mix it up,” he added.

TBR View – John-Jules can bounce back from setback

It is a shame for John-Jules that he has suffered such a significant injury. But Appleton’s comments should boost his confidence.

It would arguably not be a huge surprise to see the Imps make another loan bid in the summer. And perhaps, they may not be the only team who come calling.

It is clearly a setback for the youngster. But Appleton’s assessment of his potential suggests that he has the quality to bounce back and make up for lost time upon his return to action.

And with so many youngsters currently impressing for Mikel Arteta’s men right now, John-Jules making the grade in North London is absolutely not out of the question.
