Micah Richards raved about Tottenham star Tanguy Ndombele during the Sky Sports coverage of yesterday’s 3-1 win over Sheffield United.

Jose Mourinho’s team returned to winning ways in the Premier League after Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Fulham.

Ndombele scored Tottenham’s third goal with a scrumptious lob which sailed over the head of Aaron Ramsdale in the Blades goal.

Serge Aurier and Harry Kane had opened the scoring for Spurs, with David McGoldrick pulling one back in the second half.

It was Ndombele’s goal which wowed Richards, however, with the ex-England man clearly feeling the Frenchman meant his goal.

He told Sky Sports (16/01; 15:57): “This is the one. They saved the best until the last. It’s a sublime finish, some will say he hasn’t meant that but where else could he possibly be going with it?

“It’s an unbelievable goal. You’ve got to give him credit, it’s just a sensational goal.”

Ndombele has kick-started his Tottenham career this season after a difficult maiden campaign in North London.

The Frenchman cost the club £53 million and he struggled to live up to that valuation during 2019/20.

Whatever Mourinho has worked on with Ndombele in the summer, however, it has clearly paid dividends.

The 24-year-old has been a revelation during 2020/21 and is now an instrumental part of the Tottenham midfield.

TBR View: Ndombele’s turnaround is remarkable

This time last year it seemed as though the man with six caps for his country was on borrowed time.

His transformation has been fantastic though and his Spurs revival has seen him quickly become a firm fan favourite.

Ndombele’s goal yesterday was a thing of real beauty and deserves every accolade.

Tottenham badly needed the win and they remain in contention for a top-four finish this season.

With Ndombele pulling the strings in the engine room, you’d be a brave punter to back against Spurs claiming a Champions League spot.
