Arsenal have a “brilliant talent” on their hands in Eddie Nketiah, Micah Richards has written in the Daily Mail.
Nketiah has featured in all of Arsenal’s competitive fixtures this term, scoring against West Ham in the league and Leicester in the League Cup.
At international level, the 21-year-old has broken a long-standing record by becoming the England Under-21s all-time top goalscorer after netting in England’s win over Turkey U21s this month.
Nketiah moved above Alan Shearer and Francis Jeffers in the record books with his 14th strike for Aidy Boothroyd’s charges.
Richards name-checked the youngster as one of several players who give Mikel Arteta a lot of quality to choose from in Arsenal’s pursuit of the top four.
“Arteta walked into a club that had one of the world’s best strikers in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a £72million winger in Nicolas Pepe,” wrote Richards. “He’s signed Willian and he’s got a brilliant talent in Eddie Nketiah emerging.
“When you add in that they have just signed Thomas Partey – what an unbelievable piece of business that could prove, as the Ghanaian was outstanding for Atletico Madrid – Arteta has got a lot of quality to choose from. Arsenal, really, should be looking at the top four.”
A tenacious forward boasting great pace, movement, creativity and finishing ability, Nketiah has earned huge praise from peers including Marcelo Bielsa, who has deemed him a “complete player”.
His latest displays at international level will surely have been food for thought for Arteta, and as the season goes on, the talented prodigy is bound to get even more game time and keep progressing.
