Micah Richards has admitted he’s now worried about Aston Villa following their latest defeat, as they battle against relegation in the Premier League.
Dean Smith’s side were beaten 3-2 at home to Tottenham at the weekend, as they conceded a stoppage time goal due to a defensive error.
The Midlands club sit 17th in the league table just a point above the relegation places and are right in the mix of relegation as it stands.
They travel to Southampton next week in the league, before the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley a week later.
Ex-Villa defender Richards has spoken about his fear over his former side after another loss in the league.
“It’s starting to get worrying. It seems a little bit worrying at times when Tyrone Mings doesn’t play they’re not the same team and they’re too reliant on Jack Grealish to create something too special,” Richards told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
“The three at the back worked against Burnley, but it seems they haven’t got the grasps of what to do.”
Villa unfortunately are going to need their key individuals to keep producing from now until the end of the season and at least they have some top-class performers with the likes of Grealish and Mings.
It’s a massive excitement for the entire club to be in a cup final at the beginning of March, but it’s imperative that they don’t drop down to the Championship again and need to try confirm themselves as top-flight regulars once again.
A few wins on the bounce will be enough to pull any relegation-threatened team out of trouble and that’s why they desperately need.
