Former Manchester City defender, Micah Richards, believes that Jack Grealish still holds an advantage over Phil Foden when it comes to who is the better player.
Richards was speaking on the Super Six podcast this week and answering a range of questions about the Premier League season, including who he sees as the best players.
And when Laura Woods quizzed him on some Manchester City stars, Richards surprisingly went with Bruno Fernandes ahead of Ilkay Gundogan, while he also picked Virgil Van Dijk over Ruben Dias.
To make it a hat-trick of City players losing out, Richards also selected Jack Grealish over Phil Foden, but not before admitting it was the hardest decision of the lot.
“This is the hardest question out of all of them,” Richards said.
“At this moment in time, I think Jack Grealish. I think Foden’s got the ability to be better maybe. But I think at this moment, I think I have to say Jack Grealish.”
Foden and Grealish are both in line to go with England to the Euros this summer. However, it is widely expected that only one of the pair will play, with Raheem Sterling certain to start and Mason Mount improving by the week.
TBR View: Grealish just has the edge but Richards is right, it’s a tough call
Both Grealish and Foden are superb talents, let’s be right here. Both players can play for any team in England and both would do a job in the summer when selected by Southgate.
Luckily, both are young enough to keep improving further and Foden especially seems to have that bit of magic we haven’t seen for quite some time in a Three Lions shirt.
Richards was right to find this hard. But in the end, probably just got it right with Grealish.
