Tottenham must’ve been dreading this period of the season.
Spurs have been without a number of key players throughout January.
He likes of Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr have been away at the African Cup of Nations, and, most importantly, they’ve lost Heung-Min Son to the Asian Cup.
Spurs’ captain has been away for almost a month now, and while Tottenham will have been worried about their performances dipping during this period, Spurs have, surprisingly, been fine.
Indeed, other players have stepped up in these key men’s absences, and one player who has really gone to another level is Richarlison.
The Brazilian, all of a sudden, can’t stop scoring, and speaking on The Rest is Football, Micah Richards has been full of praise for the 26-year-old, claiming that he’s really stepped up since Son has gone.

Richards hails Richarlison
Richards spoke highly of the striker.
“Do you know what it is? Taking responsibility. Kane has gone, Son steps up. Son goes, Richarlison steps up. That’s what they are doing now. Brilliant,” Richards said.
The main man
Richarlison is seemingly a player who really thrives on being the main man in his teams.
When he was at Everton and Watford, he was the player the entire attack was built around, and that’s why he did so well, but he hasn’t had that luxury at Tottenham, until now.
With Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son being the main men over the past 18 months at Spurs, Richarlison has had to play more of a supporting role, and that really didn’t suit him.
However, now, he’s the main man in the attack, and he’s scoring at an incredible rate.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Richarlison can keep this form up once Son is back in the team.
