Micah Richards has been amazed by the quality of West Ham star Michail Antonio this season, after another match-winning performance this week.
The 30-year-old forward scored the only goal in a victory over Burnley at the weekend, while on Tuesday night he netted a second-half winner against West Brom.
He’s had a stop-start season so far, but the Hammers look a much better team when he plays.
The Englishman has shown over the years his versatility to play numerous positions, but he looks at home leading the line.
Antonio has the power, pace and aggression to make life a nightmare for centre-backs.
Pundit Richards singled out the West Ham star after his latest display against West Brom.
“He really is the talisman for them. He’s got a bit of everything to his game now,” Richards told Match Of The Day.
“He’s just become a massive key figure for them, even his movements getting better. He’s known for having pace and power, but he’s a very intelligent player as well. What a season he’s having.
Antonio has five goals in 11 league games so far this season and they’ve got every chance of sustaining a bid for the European positions if he can stay fit.
The £70,000-a-week frontman helps link everything together in the final third, with winger such as Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma playing off him.
This weekend’s FA Cup tie with Doncaster Rovers may give manager David Moyes the chance to rest him.
But Antonio will be crucial in upcoming league matches against Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Aston Villa.
