Micah Richards makes Kieran Tierney claim after Arsenal loss

Micah Richards has told Sky Sports (broadcast on 21/2; 16:16) that Kieran Tierney has everything as he suggested that the Arsenal star is one of the Premier League’s best in his position.

Tierney is certainly a fan favourite at the Emirates. After a tough first season, the left-back has responded superbly this term.

He has already made a greater number of appearances for the Gunners this season. And he was arguably one of the only players who could be content with their form in the difficult months before the turn of the year.

He perhaps did not have his best afternoon on Sunday as Manchester City won 1-0 at the Emirates. But Richards suggested that he is still up there amongst the best in his mind.

“He’s got absolutely everything. There are full-backs nowadays that can defend and there are ones that can attack,” he told Sky Sports.

“Kieran Tierney, I still believe, is one of the best full-backs in the Premier League, just because he can do both and he’s played, sometimes where Arsenal have been struggling, sometimes that’s when you see how good a player is.

“When Arsenal were struggling, he was always their best player.

“He came in for £25 million – I think that’s an absolute snip.”

Even on a slightly disappointing day for him personally, Tierney – who earns around £81,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – was still arguably one of Arsenal’s better players against Pep Guardiola’s side.

And that is perhaps why plenty of fans believe that they are watching a future captain in the 23-year-old. He seems to be setting the example for others with his standards.

His work-rate can certainly rarely be questioned. And as Richards suggests, there is every chance that Arsenal supporters will one day look back on the £25 million move as one of the most inspired pieces of business the club have done in recent years.
