Once Liverpool’s players return from the international break, the club’s supporters will be incredibly excited to see Federico Chiesa make his debut at Anfield.
Chiesa wasn’t selected by Italy for their coming games, presumably because he’s lacking match sharpness after being left out by Juventus during pre-season.
The Italian would have benefitted from minutes for his country right now, but staying behind to work at Liverpool under Arne Slot should never be considered a bad thing.
Fortunately, Liverpool’s front three are purring under the Dutchman right now, and Chiesa can be afforded opportunities off the bench at first, allowing a good amount of time to adjust.
Liverpool play Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth at Anfield in the Premier League next, either side a reminiscent trip to AC Milan in the Champions League.
Liverpool told that Federico Chiesa could be even better in England
Speaking on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast, Micah Richards recently shared his comprehensive thoughts on Liverpool signing Chiesa – a move he thought might be the transfer of the summer.
And the pundit also explained why the Italian might be even better outside of the Serie A.

Richards said: “The only thing why I think it’s such a great buy is one, the money they paid for him, which is what, £12m? If I remember correctly, £12.5m.
“Not only can he play on the left wing, he can play on the right wing. You can play in a wing-back system – you could play him as a right-back if need be.
“He’s so versatile and he’s got electric pace. I think at times, having watched like Serie A, the game was a little bit closed.
“I think in the Premier League, because the game is stretched, he’ll have more space.
“We’re judging him recently off like international football and playing in the Serie A, where defenders love to defend and it’s all about tactics.
“Over here, it’s more about the passion and the speed and the power, I think it suits him. And he didn’t have a bad season last year.
“I think he still got nine goals in the league as well, if I remember correctly. So I think he’s going to be the signing of the transfer window.
“I think in terms of, you’re not spending £50m for him, like two or three seasons ago, he was worth £100m you know, so for £12.5 million.
“I think it’s a no brainer, I think for the fee, it’s a punt, it’s a gamble, but it’s one that’s without a doubt worth taking.”
Federico Chiesa can be Liverpool’s new Luis Suarez
Of course, on the back of Luis Suarez retiring from international football, perhaps Chiesa can emulate the great Uruguayan in some respects at Anfield.
He’s never going to score the same amount of goals, Suarez was in a league of his own in that respect.
But Chiesa has similar close control, a tenacious dribbler who’s always looking to maximise what he can do with the ball.
Gabriel Agbonlahor has one concern about Chiesa at Liverpool, but fans will rest assured that Slot has things covered.
A manager known for getting the best out of his wingers, and Chiesa’s arrival should provide plenty of reason to be excited.
