Micah Richards has told The Monday Night Club that Martin Odegaard was incredible on Sunday, but suggested that he has been most impressed by his character since his move to Arsenal.

Odegaard is well on his way towards establishing himself as the Arsenal talisman in a Gunners side full of hugely exciting prospects. And they are enjoying a fantastic season.

They currently sit on pole position for that final top-four spot in the Premier League. Certainly, Gary Neville believes that they will be the ones to get themselves across the line.

Their form in the last few months have been outrageously good. And Odegaard is one of those who appears to have taken his game to another level.

The Norwegian has been outstanding in that midfield role just behind the forward line. And he showcased all of his talent in the 2-0 win over Leicester at the weekend.

‘Outstanding’

He was pulling the strings throughout the game. And Richards lauded the way he dominated the contest. But he also shared what he has found so impressive since his move to the Premier League.

“Honestly, you know what’s so good, and what I like the most about him is his character,” he told The Monday Night Club.

“We’ve all been there where you have been the talk of the town. You go to Madrid at 16 and everyone was talking about him like he was going to the team and light it up and then he goes on loan to Hereveen and Vitesse, and Real Sociedad and a lot of people had written him off.

“And then he comes on loan to Arsenal and he only scored one goal in that period of time but you could just see his confidence building and not only him, but I’ve got to give special mentions to Arteta for giving him the confidence, the belief and their top scorer Smith Rowe is not even playing.

“Martinelli has been playing so well, Odegaard has been outstanding, Saka has been in the form of his life. But he’s the one who glues it all together, some of his passing the other day was just incredible. His vision, awareness, all parts of his game.”

Odegaard deal has the potential to go down as pivotal transfer for Arsenal

Arsenal fans have been treated to a number of transfers which have proved to be absolute game-changers down the years.

The arrivals of Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry are all looked back upon as pivotal moments in the club’s history. And that is just in the Premier League era.

Obviously, it is too soon to know whether any of the current crop could have anything like that sort of influence in the years to come. But certainly, the future looks incredibly bright for Arsenal right now.

And the one who currently looks most likely to be an era-defining signing is surely Odegaard.
