Micah Richards has praised Tottenham defender Serio Reguilon for his latest performance, claiming that he was “one positive” from his side’s 1-1 draw with Fulham in midweek.
The Spanish full-back provided a stunning assist in Wednesday night’s draw with London rivals Fulham in the Premier League.
His left-footed cross was put perfectly into the penalty area for Harry Kane to convert with a header, but ultimately visitors Fulham equalised in the second-half with Ivan Cavaleiro.
Reguilon, who joined in the summer from Real Madrid, has established himself as a fan favourite extremely quickly.
The left-back is proving very effective in attack with five assists under his belt already this season, while defensively he’s tenacious and aggressive with his back to goal.
BBC pundit Richards feels that the 24-year-old was a standout for Spurs in a match that they dropped points in.
“What a performance from him. He was brilliant,” Richards told Match of the Day.
“His position he just gets so high [up the pitch]. We talk about can the modern full-back defend, positionally, he was good as well.
“Look at this touch here and the whip in for Kane. He stops it dead and first-time cross, for a defender it’s a nightmare when the ball comes in that early… It was an all-round performance from him.
“He was a one positive for Spurs.”
Reguilon has arguably been the pick of the club’s summer signings and is yet another top-class left-back playing in the Premier League, alongside the likes of Andy Robertson, Ben Chilwell and Kieran Tierney.
The speed machine is everything the team has been crying out for and it’s a throwback to when they had Danny Rose at his very peak performing with Kyle Walker.
There has been some criticism aimed towards a lack of creativity in the Spurs team away from the main duo of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, but Reguilon is certainly an individual that contributes massively from the left wing.
