Mesut Ozil has sent a cheeky Tweet to Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry after the German speed machine was caught wearing an Arsenal shirt during lockdown – and Gunners fans have reacted on Twitter to the Tweet.
Gnabry, 24, has become one of the most exciting attackers in European football since he joined Bayern Munich. Indeed, Gnabry has had a hand in 29 goals during his 33 appearances this season – scoring 18 and creating 11.
But less than four years ago, Arsenal decided to sell Gnabry after he failed to have a lasting impact with the Gunners – and following a failed loan spell under Tony Pulis at West Brom. He only played 18 times for Arsenal’s first team.
However, during a call between Bayern players, Gnabry was spotted wearing a Bayern shirt and Ozil has caught on. The duo were renowned as being close friends during Gnabry’s time in the senior side, and Ozil sent a cheeky Tweet to the winger.
Not only has Gnabry been shining for Bayern – with 31 goals and 20 assists in 75 Bayern outings – but he has also excelled at international level, netting 13 goals in as many appearances for Germany.
Ozil’s future at Arsenal remains in doubt this summer as he looks set to enter the final 12 months of his contract, but many reacted to his Tweet – urging the experienced German to bring Gnabry back to Arsenal.
