'Mentality to win'; Granit Xhaka hails arrival of Thomas Partey
Granit Xhaka is already full of praise for new teammate Thomas Partey. The Arsenal man believes the team has what it needed.
Arsenal finally signed Thomas Partey on deadline day for a £45m fee. It’s one of those signings where it’s difficult to find a fault in it – Partey is a great player who offers just about everything in midfield.
Atletico Madrid will be devastated that he’s gone. They didn’t agree to a sale, after all, as Arsenal simply met his release clause.
And despite only being at the club for a short while, Granit Xhaka believes Partey is already bringing what the team needs.
“He will be the guy who is important for me and as well for the team. Everyone in the club can be happy because he has great quality,” Xhaka said, per the official Arsenal site.
“He will bring a good mentality, a good balance in our game because this is what we need a bit more: the mentality to win. He played at Atletico Madrid, a different type of football, and he will bring a lot of good quality and mentality.”
It’s always fantastic news that teammates can immediately see these things. After all, that mentality and versatility are exactly what Arsenal will have signed Partey.
So the fact that a senior pro like Xhaka can already see results is wonderful news. Partey will have to translate all of that onto the pitch, of course, but you can’t really have a better start than impressing your teammates.
This really does seem like a risk-free transfer for Arsenal and we can’t wait to see how he fits in at the club.
